Forging is the process that modifies the shape of metals by plastic deformation produced by pressure or impact. This controlled deformation of the metal, carried out at high temperature, produces better metallurgical quality and improves mechanical properties.

When heating the iron it is important to achieve temperature uniformity in the whole piece, if the heart of the piece is cold, less than 1250 degrees, internal breaks can appear because it does not have the same plasticity as the surface. there are several types of forging, free forging, press forging and stamping forging.

Free forging: It is characterized because the deformation of the metal is not limited, it is used when the quantity of pieces to be manufactured is small or if the size of the piece to be forged is very large. Its main tools are the anvil and the hammer. The piece rests on the anvil, producing deformation by the strong blows of the hammer that falls on it. This type of forge is easy to identify, it is impossible to make two equal pieces and is always marked by the regular blows of the hammer on the piece. This type of forge is the one used for the manufacture of the ironworks of our rustic doors, each piece of forge is realized depending on the measure of the door and in function of the tastes of each client.

Forging in press: The iron pieces are placed between the upper anvil and the lower anvil of a hydraulic press, it is necessary to use heavy machinery.

Forging by stamping: The fluence of the material is limited to the cavity of the stamp, the material is placed between two dies that have holes engraved with the shape of the piece to be obtained. The metal completely fills the holes of the stamp by means of blows or pressure, the process of stamping ends when the two matrices practically come into contact. They can be made hot, 1250 degrees, semi-heated, 900 degrees or cold, at room temperature. All manufactured parts are identical.
